Merseyside Police is investigating a suspected arson attack after a van caught fire in Huyton. At around 1.10am today, Thursday, April 2, police received a report that a van was on fire on Moss Green Close.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported. The fire service said its crews were alerted at 1.06am and arrived at the scene seven minutes later. Two fire engines attended alongside Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

When they got there, crews found a van on a driveway on fire. One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames and crews completed a home fire safety check on the property before leaving the scene at 2.22am.

A joint investigation between the fire service and Merseyside Police is now underway and anyone with any information has been asked to contact the police.
