If you’re just catching up on or still reliving that chaotic Married at First Sight Australia season 12 reunion, then you may have realised quite a few of this year’s cast members were nowhere to be seen during that messy dinner party, nor for the final emotional reflection with the experts. So why were Morena, Lauren, Tim and Jake MIA from the reunion? Here’s everything you need to know.

The last time we saw Morena she was leaving her final commitment ceremony to Tony early. After they both decided to end their relationship and leave the experiment, Tony headed back to the couch to watch the rest of the commitment ceremony, but Morena left and after that she decided not to come back.

Morena told Yahoo! she didn’t film for the reunion, after she revealed she wanted nothing to do with the show or the channel it’s airing on in Australia.

“Fool me once, not twice. No, I declined. They said to me, ‘You’ve got an obligation’. I have no obligations. I’m done,” she told the publication. “In my remote, I’ve gotta actually put a cover on number nine. I’m done, I will never watch you. I don’t care what you put on there. Change your ethics, change your values. I understand you’ve got a show to do and I used to say to them, ‘Do your job’, but there’s a line.”

This one isn’t surprising either, given the last time we saw Lauren she was also leaving her final commitment ceremony early too.

After her failed marriage to Eliot, she returned to the show where she was paired with Clint and though they tried at first, their marriage ultimately wasn’t working out. Lauren was also not getting on well with the rest of the group and didn’t like participating in the group dynamics.

Lauren and Clint chose to leave the experiment together, and soon after Clint began dating Jacqui, whom he is now engaged to.

It was in fact Clint who revealed Lauren wouldn’t be attending the reunion, telling Yahoo!: “She was meant to go, then she decided not to. We hadn’t spoken for a long time and then literally, when our wedding went to air, she checked in to see how I was going and what I thought was going to happen. There were a few messages and a couple of calls around that, and that’s been it.”

Tim was married to Katie, however, their marriage was very short-lived as Tim wasn’t keen on his pairing from the ceremony. They struggled throughout their honeymoon and didn’t move in together to the apartments.

They ended up breaking up very early on into the show and since then Tim chose to distance him from the show, hence explaining why he didn’t show up but ex-wife Katie did.

Another groom who chose to keep himself away from the show and the subsequent reunion was Jake, who was married to Ashleigh. The pair had a great start to their marriage and got on really well.

However, it all came crashing down during the photo ranking task when Jake made some comments Ashleigh felt were derogatory about the other brides. It led to the pair breaking up and leaving the experiment early. Since then he’s kept very quiet about the show which explains his reasoning for not returning.
