Here is what you need to know about changes to refuse collection days and opening hours for recycling centres over the Easter 2025 period.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council

This council has not yet updated its Easter 2025 schedule.

Ards & North Down Borough Council

Bin collection days will go back a day due to Easter Monday, and so will take place as follows –

Normal Collection Date Due: Easter Monday (April 21)

Will be collected on: Tuesday (April 22)

Normal Collection Date Due: Tuesday (April 22)

Will be collected on: Wednesday (April 23)

Normal Collection Date Due: Wednesday (April 23)

Will be collected on: Thursday (April 24)

Normal Collection Date Due: Thursday (April 24)

Will be collected on: Friday (April 25)

Please make sure your container is set out for collection on the appropriate day by 7:00am.

Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) at Balloo, Ballygowan, Comber, Donaghadee, Holywood, Kircubbin, Millisle, Newtownards and Portaferry will be closed on: Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 April 2025

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council

For those whose bins and boxes are due to be collected on April 21 (Easter Monday), collections will instead take place on Saturday April 19.

On Easter Tuesday (April 22), collections will recontinue as normal.

Recycling centres will be closed on Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday.

Belfast City Council

For those whose bins and boxes are due to be collected on April 21 (Easter Monday), collections will instead take place on Saturday April 19.

On Easter Tuesday (April 22), collections will recommence as normal.

These collection arrangements are the same for kerbside recycling boxes collected by Bryson Recycling.

Recycling centres and civic amenity sites will be closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, but will resume opening hours as usual from Easter Tuesday onward.

Causeway Coast and Glens Council

Bin collections will take place as normal on Good Friday (Apr 18), Easter Monday (Apr 21) and Easter Tuesday (Apr 22).

Householders and businesses are reminded to present their bin(s) no later than 7.00am on day of collection.

Household Recycling Centres will be open as normal over the Easter holidays.

Derry City & Strabane District Council

This council has not yet updated its Easter 2025 schedule.

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council

This council has not yet updated its Easter 2025 schedule.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council

Bin collections, kerbie and wheelie boxes will be collected as normal on Good Friday (April 18).

Bins, kerbie and wheelie boxes to be collected on Easter Monday will instead be collected beforehand on Saturday, April 19.

Bins to be collected on Easter Tuesday will instead be collected on the following Saturday, April 26.

Kerbie and wheelie boxes however will continue to be collected as normal on Easter Tuesday.

Household recycling centres will be open on Good Friday 9am-3pm.

They will open 9am-5pm on Easter Saturday (April 19).

They will be closed on both Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday.

Mid & East Antrim Borough Council

The council has varying bin collection changes going by each area (as seen below).

If a date is not listed, then collections are scheduled as normal, the local authority added.

Ballymena

The alternative collection dates for Bryson Recycling collections in the Ballymena and Carrickfergus areas are as follows:

Household Recycling Centres (HRCs)

Mid and East Antrim Council announced new opening hours for Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) across the borough from April 1, 2025.

HRCs in Larne, Carrickfergus and Ballymena will be closed on Easter Monday, April 21 and Easter Tuesday, April 22.

Mid Ulster Council

Bins due to be collected on Easter Monday (April 21) and Easter Tuesday (April 22) will be collected as normal.

The council reminded residents to leave their bin at the kerb by 7.30am.

All recycling centres will be closed on Monday (April 21) and will reopen on Tuesday (April 22) – except Fivemiletown Recycling Centre which is closed on Tuesdays.

Newry, Mourne & Down District Council

All refuse collection and commercial waste collections will take place as normal on Easter Monday and Tuesday.

The council said residents should have their bin at the kerbside for 6am to ensure it is collected and said no excess bags of waste will be collected.

All Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) will be open as normal on Easter Monday and Tuesday, apart from Hilltown HRC, which is closed Tuesday (April 22)
