The stars of the Real Housewives of Cheshire were stunned to bump into a global music legend while they filmed the upcoming new series of the show in Manchester.

Show OGs Ampika Pickston and Lauren Simon shared their delight after spotting none other than American guitar icon Nile Rodgers having breakfast while they filmed scenes at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester. It was Good Times all round as Nile chatted with the ladies and agreed to pose for these pictures.

Chic legend Nile was in town for his appearance at the MOBO Awards last month when he inadvertently ended up in the background of scenes on the Real Housewives as well.

Sharing the photos on social media, Ampika said: “Hanging out…. Only with good company.”

Explaining the background to the pictures, Ampika told the Manchester Evening News: “He was there as he had the MOBO awards that evening and we were having breakfast.

“He is a lovely man who loves Manchester and northern people. He was a dream chatting away having breakfast.

“He will be in the background of us filming Housewives – how iconic.”

Ampika was recently confirmed to be returning to the Real Housewives as a full cast member for the upcoming 19th series. The new series will include her preparations for her upcoming marriage to billionaire football club owner David Sullivan.

Meanwhile fans won’t have long to wait to see if they can spot Nile in the background of any of those Housewives scenes – as ITV have now confirmed when the 19th series of the hit show will be back on our screens.

The series will head onto a new home on ITV2 (after the closure of its original home on ITVBe) and is due to premiere from April 21. ITV bosses have also renewed their commitment to the show, signing it up for TWO new series this year.

Meanwhile Le Freak, Good Times and Everybody Dance hitmaker Nile was full of praise for Manchester during his stopover here last month.

Indeed, he hailed it “the coolest place on Earth”.

Sharing a video with his followers of a walk around the city centre, he said: “The thing that’s cool about Manchester to me, it feels like when I was younger, the mentality feels party, partying is important obviously to me and my music.

“But it feels social, it feels like people are interested in each other, they care, they’re very integrated.]

He explained that he was in town for the MOBO awards for a “very special friend at a very special event”.

Later that night he headed onto the stage to present the Global Songwriter Award to his good friend and fellow American music great Pharrell Williams.
