Bradley Walsh showcased his jealousy as he halted Friday’s episode of the quiz show. The ITV host was quick to voice his frustration as one question on The Chase revealed which movie star was lucky enough to be trusted with a special role on the broadcasting channel.
Rushelle, Aiden, Edward and Gill made up the team of four contestants eager to test their wits against one of the UK’s best quizzers. Retired teacher Gill was first up to face Shaun Wallace aka The Dark Destroyer. She returned to her teammates with £4,000 to kickstart the shared prize pot.
Next to face The Chaser was bar manager Edward who hoped to follow in Gill’s footsteps. His nerves seemed to get the better off him during the Cash Builder round, as he accumulated just £2,000.
The quizzer was tempted to take the safer option of £200, but decided to test his general knowledge skills with what he had earned. But it was one question during Edward’s round which prompted a response from Bradley Walsh.
The host asked: “Which of these was a presenting partner of Alan Titchmarsh during the Queen’s Jubilee Celebration? A) Tom Hanks, B) Tom Hardy or C) Tom Cruise”
The TV presenter was furious to hear that it was American actor Tom Cruise who was lucky enough to present the coverage on ITV in 2022. The Chaser got the answer correct, as he said: “Yeah, I remember he was over here for that.”

Bradley Walsh was stunned, he said: “Tom Cruise was the presenter? What, for the BBC?” Shaun explained: “No on ITV. He was over here, don’t you remember him being here? He was over for Top Gun Maverick.”
Bradley did not shy away from showing his jealousy, he said: “That, I get. What’s he doing presenting the Queen’s Jubilee?” He joked: “How much money is he on?” He continued: “Mate that is poor form. I love Tom Cruise but I’m not having him presenting on ITV.”
He soon got back to his presenting duties for Edward’s game, who successfully bagged himself a position in the final. Aidan was the next contestant hoping to impress The Dark Destroyer. He gave a great performance and earned £6,000, increasing the shared pot to £12,000
Last up to take on The Chaser was Rochelle. She earned £4,000 in her Cash Builder but her time on the quiz show was unfortunately cut short when she was caught by The Dark Destroyer. Rochelle said her goodbyes, leaving Gill, Edward and Aiden to take on the final chase.
Their score of 12 was not strong enough to triumph on the quiz show. The Dark Destroyer caught the team with 49 seconds to spare, which meant the three contestants went home empty-handed.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1
