Peter Phillips’s upcoming wedding to nurse Harriet Sperling will reportedly be a “private ceremony,” but the son of Princess Anne famously “blindsided” the royal family following his first marriage in 2008.
Phillips tied the knot with Autumn Kelly at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the same venue where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would marry a decade later.

Queen Elizabeth wasn’t thrilled with the newlyweds after they decided to sell photos from their wedding to Hello! for $673,655, according to the Daily Express.
“The magazine ran a 100-page special, with 59 pages of photographs from the wedding, including 10 of the queen,” reported the outlet.
These included a variety of “remarkably candid” pictures, per the Daily Mail, which didn’t gel with the royal family’s typically formal portraiture. One snapshot showed Harry kissing Elizabeth on the cheek, while another depicted the family laughing.

Apparently, Elizabeth and other senior royals “felt blindsided” by the incident, which led Buckingham Palace to issue a statement calling the sale of the photos a “serious error of judgment.” This also caused the queen to ban the practice of royals doing photograph deals for tabloids.
Phillips and Kelly share two daughters, 15-year-old Savannah and 14-year-old Isla, though the couple divorced in 2021.
When he remarries, Sperling will be the first royal bride since 2020, when Princess Beatrice wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a low-key ceremony in Windsor.

“Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today announced their wedding date,” read a statement shared with People by the couple’s spokesperson, Gerard Franklin.
“The summer wedding will take place at All Saints Church, Kemble, Cirencester on Saturday 6th June 2026 in a private ceremony,” the statement continued. “Both families have been informed jointly of the wedding date by invitation.”
