Public spaces around the city are to be be improved after the council agreed a maintenance contact worth £15m over five years.
Grassed areas, shrubs and hedgerows will be looked after by specialist company Krinkels UK.
Leeds City Council proposed to award a contract from January next year following a tendering exercise.
A council report said: “The work within this contract directly supports the aim to provide communities that are clean and well looked after, promoting a sense of community pride and ownership.
“Open spaces located at the heart of communities play a key role in promoting a sense of place and belonging, providing opportunities to meet, exercise and share space for informal children’s play and to engage with the local environment.”
The report said the contact, set to run from January 2027, would be worth £3.15m each year.
More than £30m could eventually be paid if an option to extend the contact is carried out, the report said.
A council scrutiny board recommended additional conditions after the current contact expires.
They included daily reporting of maintenance activity and more involvement with community volunteers.
The report said: “Autumn leaf collection and removal from selected land areas will be looked at as an optional aspect of the contract during the autmn and winter period of the year.”
