A historic village known for its listed buildings and colourful cottages has been named among the country’s most beautiful.
Lavenham has been included in a list of the 24 prettiest places in the UK by the Daily Mail.
The national newspaper highlighted the market square which is lined with architecture from the Tudor era, listed buildings and a range of independent retailers.
It added: “Thanks to its timbered cottages, crooked houses, 15th century churches, tearooms and woodlands, Lavenham is one of the prettiest historical villages in England.”

The history of the village can be explored in the Guildhall (Image: Phil Morley) Lavenham has often been recognised for being one of the most picturesque places in the county and is considered to be one of the best preserved villages.
The village was once one of the wealthiest in Britain due to its involvement in the wool and cloth trade during medieval times.
Visitors can step back in time and explore its history in the Lavenham Guildhall, which most famously appeared as part of Godric’s Hollow in the Harry Potter film franchise, and admire the unique Crooked House.
Lavenham is also known as a hotspot for foodies with plenty of highly-rated food and drink establishments to choose from.
