The Found Footage Festival, a live show featuring odd and hilarious video clips from old VHS tapes, will debut its latest edition on May 10.
Hosted by comedians Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher, the festival is a “one-of-a-kind celebration of the videos that time forgot,” unearthed from thrift shops and estate sales across North America.
Joe Pickett, whose comedy credits include The Onion, will take audiences on a guided tour of newly discovered video gems with live commentary and updates on the people featured in the footage.
Highlights include tapes like a “bawdy” charity shop video titled Rugby Karaoke, and a montage of strange exercise videos.
The show will also feature a new-age oddity called Psychic Surgery and a “screaming pitch man” known as Dollar Bill.
Mr Pickett and Mr Prueher began collecting found footage in 1991 after coming across a McDonald’s training video titled Inside and Outside Custodial Duties in Wisconsin.
Since then, they’ve built the world’s largest collection of “strange, outrageous, and profoundly stupid videos.”
The festival first launched in New York City in 2004 and has since sold out shows across the UK, US, and Canada, including appearances at Just For Laughs, Edinburgh Fringe, and Bonnaroo.
It has been praised by outlets including The Guardian, A.V. Club, Wired, and City Pages.
Pickett and Prueher also host a weekly YouTube series called VCR Party Live!
Tickets for the Leeds show are available for £22 at foundfootagefest.com/tour.
