POLICE in Inverclyde have teamed up with Greenock Morton in a bid to help prevent violence among young people in the area.
Throughout the month of April, Police Scotland’s Renfrewshire and Inverclyde division is working alongside Crimestoppers’ Fearless service and No Knives, Better Lives to raise awareness of the consequences of violent crime.
Local officers will be in attendance at Cappielow on Saturday ahead of Morton’s match against Queen’s Park to share resources and chat with adults and children outside the ground about the campaign.
A Morton spokesperson said: “As a community club, we understand the influence football can have in helping to promote positive messages and support important initiatives within our local area.
“We’re proud to support the Fearless campaign at Cappielow ahead of our match against Queen’s Park and to work alongside Police Scotland, Fearless and No Knives, Better Lives in helping to raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of violence.
“Campaigns like this are important in encouraging young people to make positive choices and in reminding them that there is support available if they need it.
“If we can help play a small part in spreading that message within our community, then we are very pleased to do so.”
