If the weather is too bad for a visit to an outdoor golf course, a brand new facility has opened in Basildon that’s great all year round. GolfPod is now open at Basildon Sporting Village, offering a modern way for people of all ages and abilities to play the sport.
Everyone Active, which manages Basildon Sporting Village on behalf of Basildon Borough Council, worked in partnership with GolfPod to deliver the facility. The site includes ten covered practice bays overlooking a synthetic outfield, providing a weatherproof space for year-round use.
It is designed to be largely automated, with technology enabling users to track their shots and take part in interactive games. Operated by GolfPod, the facility is open to a wide range of users, including beginners, casual players and more experienced golfers, as well as families and groups.
Sessions are available daily, with prices starting from £7 for 30 minutes, including balls. Equipment is available to hire on site, and bookings can be made via an app or on arrival.
Tom Fletcher, area contract manager for Everyone Active, said: “We’re delighted to see GolfPod now open at Basildon Sporting Village. It’s a really exciting addition that creates more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in golf in an accessible way, whether they’re picking up a club for the first time or looking to further develop their skills. It also complements the facilities we already have on site and adds something different to the range of activities available here.”
Mike Stone, GolfPod managing director, added: “We’re incredibly excited to bring GolfPod to Basildon. This site is another step in making golf more accessible, more social, and more engaging for everyone, combining a tech-driven experience with a fun, relaxed environment. Whether you’ve never picked up a club or you play every week, GolfPod offers a completely new way to enjoy the game. Basildon is a fantastic fit for us, and we’re looking forward to becoming part of the local community.”
