Buses have been diverted away from the street until further notice.
A crash temporarily closed an Edinburgh street on Friday morning as buses were diverted away from the area. Esslemont Road was blocked following the incident at around 11am on April 17.
Emergency services are in attendance on the mostly residential street, near Edinburgh University’s King’s Buildings campus. It is not known how many vehicles are involved.
Lothian Buses confirmed its services 12, 24 and 38 had been re-routed as a result but are now understood to be running as normal.
One passerby said: “Car crash at King’s Buildings has closed the junction and traffic pretty bad there. One car had bonnet up, ambulance and police as well as fire brigade in attendance.”
An update for passengers of the 12 and 24 read: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Esslemont Road and are instead diverted via Craigmillar Park, Mayfield Gardens, West Mayfield Road and Mayfield Road in both directions until further notice.”
A similar update for the 38 said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Blackford Avenue, West Mains Road and Esslemont Road and are instead diverted via West Savile Terrace, Mayfield Road, West Mayfield Road, Mayfield Gardens and Craigmillar Park until further notice.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
