EU’s millionaire bankers grow 85% since Brexit
The number of bankers earning over €1m in the EU has hit 2,554, new figures show
The number of bankers earning more than €1m in the EU has surged by 85% since the UK left the bloc, as top firms have shifted more senior staff to the continent.
There were 2,554 bankers earning more than €1m in 2024, according to newly-released numbers by the European Banking Authority. That is up from 1,383 in 2020 when the UK formally left the EU and is an increase of 9% year on year.
