If you’re missing the warmer weather and looking for a cheap getaway, this Spanish city is the perfect place for sun, fun, and relaxation.
According to Skyscanner, direct flights to Palma, which take just two hours and 20 minutes, are as cheap as just £23 at the end of May, making it ideal for a short last-minute break away.
Palma is the capital of Spanish island Mallorca, and there are up to eight direct flights a day departing from Bristol Airport to Palma De Mallorca airport, with easyJet, Ryanair and Thomas Cook operating flights to the city.
From the end of May into June, you can expect temperatures between 22-26C while in the summer months, the city records temperatures in the 30s, making the water hot enough to swim in.
Mallorca is known both for its sun and beaches, as well as its beautiful architecture and history that can be witnessed in the Old Town.
Spain’s official tourism website says: “The Cathedral, the Almudaina Palace, the Lonja and the Plaza Mayor square are some of the places where travellers should definitely make a stop.
“Fishing boats, pine forests and palm trees frame the most beautiful monuments. The island’s landscape is dotted with coves, beaches and cliffs along the coast, while inland there are typical Mallorcan villages and mountain ranges reaching heights of 1,500 metres.
“A wealth of landscape and culture that invites you to explore every inch of Mallorca and to delve into the island’s gastronomy.”
Palma is perfect for couples, friend groups, and solo travellers, with TripAdvisor recommending everything from walking food tours to a private sunset boat trip.
The city also boasts an impressive art scene, with a range of galleries available to visit, including Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma.
“The Es Baluard centre brings together a varied and select collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures by artists linked to the most significant international trends since the end of the 19th century. Visitors can see pieces by artists such as Gauguin, Picasso, Miró and Barceló,” the tourism board recommends.
Palma is said to be perfect for a short, sunny getaway whether you want to relax on a beach, go on a food tour, or explore Spain’s cultural and art history.
