Bristol City Robins Foundation’s ‘We Are City’ project has scooped the EFL Diversity award at the EFL awards 2026.
The ‘We are City’ project has been built over the years through strong relationships with local communities and the sentiment that football is much more than a professional game.
The project was built on four associate teams, providing opportunities for those to represent their club, who may not otherwise have been able to.
These are the Bristol City Cerebral Palsy, Panthers, Deaf and Down Syndrome teams.
Since its infancy, this project has engaged with more than 100 community organisations and individuals beyond these. It has invited over 2000 individuals to the stadium.
It has held three Iftars during Ramadan, in collaboration with the club, four Robins Foundation takeover matchdays, yearly Bristol Pride involvement, five visits to the training ground for local young people, kit donations to communities in need and many other bespoke opportunities.
On winning the award, We are City Project Lead, Roza Bailey, said: “It is amazing to have the work of the Foundation and club recognised by the EFL.
“This is a true collaboration to ensure that Bristol City is a club for anyone and that anyone can belong here.
“We will continue to work hard to make the club inclusive and celebrate the strength we have in diversity.”
Bristol City CEO Charlie Boss said: “We are really proud of the work of the Robins Foundation continually do to support the vibrant and diverse community in Bristol.
“To have that recognised by the EFL is a testament to their hard work and dedication to our club and city.”
