Eduardo Camavinga has taken ownership for his late moment of frustration that saw him sent-off for Real Madrid on Tuesday. Los Blancos were hammered by Arsenal at the Emirates to leave them with an uphill task in the second-leg.
The defending champions lost 3-0 in north London as they face the prospect of going out in the last eight of the Champions League. It was not to be their night but Camavinga ruled himself out of the return game after kicking the ball away in stoppage time, which earned him a second yellow.
He will miss the clash at the Bernabeu when Real will have to create history by overturning a three-goal deficit. The Spanish giants have enjoyed several memorable nights in Europe and will need to call upon that spirit again if they want to retain their crown.
Camavinga has shouldered the blame for his moment of madness but issued a rallying cry to the Madrid fanbase ahead of next week’s game in the capital.
He said on social media: “To all the Madridistas, my frustration got the better of me and the end of the game and for this I want to apologise. We must continue to believe and we’ll need you in the second leg. All together. Hasta el final! Hala Madrid!”

Real have the firepower in Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo but they struggled to breach the Arsenal defence at the Emirates. Declan Rice’s two sensational free-kicks put the Premier League side in control of the tie with PSG likely their semi-final opponents.
But Jude Bellingham, who claimed European glory in his first year with Real, believes that his side can mount a recovery mission in the Bernabeu as they eye a third Champions League crown in four years. He told Amazon Prime: “There is a second leg and that’s what we’re holding on to.

“We need something really special, something crazy really but one place where crazy things happen is our house. Ninety more minutes at home to pull something out of the bag. They’re two great pieces of individual quality and if it wasn’t for them, they still have other chances. We got punished and that happens at top-level football. In these games, you need to create more.
“Very rarely do you come to a place like this, score one goal and take your lead back home. They reacted really well to the transition. We didn’t do enough on the ball to threaten. We’re still alive, we’ve got 90 minutes of football and anything can happen at the Bernabeu.”
