Three people were rushed to hospital after a collision with a police car on a 999 call.

Officers from Staffordshire Police were involved in a crash with a Volvo and a Nissan Micra on Corporation Street, at the junction with Crooked Bridge Road, in Stafford, at 8.45pm yesterday, Friday, May 9.

Police said the male driver of the Volvo suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan, a man and a woman, were also taken to hospital.

The officers did not need hospital treatment.

In a statement, police said: “Three people have been taken to hospital following a collision with marked police car responding to a 999 call in Stafford.

“It happened at 8.45pm last night on Corporation Street, Stafford, at the junction with Crooked Bridge Road.

“Officers came into collision with a Volvo and the Volvo with a Nissan Micra.

“The driver of the Volvo, a man, the only one inside the car, was taken to hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service with a head injury.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan, a man and a woman, were also taken to hospital.

“The police officers did not require hospital treatment.
