Blood was seen splattered across a pavement after a man was injured in an early hours fight outside a pub. Police said the man was taken to hospital with a head injury following the brawl on Market Street, Droylsden at about 1.35am today.

This morning the pavement outside the Beehive pub, which was closed at the time of the incident, was cordoned off as the investigation continued.

Writing on Facebook one passer-by said: “What happened outside the Beehive last night? Old bill taped some of the footpath off and there’s claret everywhere.”

A GMP spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a fight on Market Street, Droylsden, at around 1.35am today – one man needed hospital treatment for a head injury. There have been no arrests, but Tameside CID are conducting enquiries.”
