Croftbank care home received two level-five “very good” ratings

An Uddingston nursing home has earned two top grades in its recent Care Inspectorate assessment.
Croftbank Care Home received level-five “very good” ratings in both inspection categories of supporting people’s wellbeing and quality of the setting at the Old Mill Road facility, which has 64 residents.
Staff and residents celebrated the outcome of last month’s two-day unannounced visit, with the home’s manager highlighting “the lovely, close-knit community we’ve built together”.

Two inspectors visited Croftbank and spoke with 20 residents plus relatives, staff and visiting health professionals.
Assessing support for the wellbeing of residents, they concluded that “people experienced warm, respectful and attentive care” and heard compliments from both residents and families about the staff, who were described as “kind and compassionate”.
Inspectors described the home as “calm and settled”, noting friendships and connections between residents and their use of shared spaces such as the cafe, lounges and garden, and the “relaxed and sociable” mealtimes.

Croftbank received the same grade-five rating for its setting, with inspectors noting the home’s recent refurbishment by operators Renaissance Care and that residents and staff considered it had “made a big difference”.
Inspectors described it as “modern, calm and uplifting” and noted that the single-storey building “supported independence and freedom of movement”, while also noting that recruitment is underway to fill housekeeping vacancies.
Two previous areas for improvement issued a year ago, to upgrade signage to support residents with dementia and to review residents’ personal plans, were assessed as having been met
A published report from the Care Inspectorate read: “We found significant strengths in aspects of the care provided and how these supported positive outcomes.”
Croftbank manager Gertina Engelbrecht said: “The team here put their heart into what they do every single day – they take the time to really get to know each resident, making sure they feel happy, comfortable and able to enjoy the things that matter most to them.
“I feel incredibly proud of the care and kindness the team show, but also of the lovely, close-knit community we’ve built together. The relationships we have with our residents and their families mean everything to us, and it’s something I truly value.”
