A band were forced to pause their set after a girl was injured in the crowd.

She was in the mosh pit at the time of the incident at Caliban’s show at The Asylum in Hampton Street, Birmingham.

She fell and was unconscious and unresponsive for several minutes on Friday, May 9, a statement from the band said.

They said on social media that she was cared for by venue staff before emergency services arrived.

The “calm and respectful” nature of other fans was commended by the band who also thanked the staff and promoters.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the metal band said: “We had to interrupt our show last night after a serious incident in the mosh pit at our show at Asylum Birmingham.

“A girl was injured during our set – she fell and was unconscious and unresponsive for several minutes.

“She suffered injuries to her face and was immediately attended to by venue staff.

“Thanks to the fast response to the team on-site and the calm, respectful behaviour of the crowd, the situation was handled swiftly and professionally.

“Emergency services were called, and we’ve since been informed that, despite the nature of her injuries, she is expected to make a full recovery.

“The safety of everyone at our shows is always our highest priority.

“We want to thank the venue staff and promoter for their outstanding handling of the situation.

“There is a merch care package waiting for you at the venue.

“Please take care of each other out there. If someone falls, help them up.

“A Caliban show should always be a safe space for everyone. Take care, Caliban.”

They added in a caption to the post: “Thank you @theasylumvenue and all your lovely staff+all you amazing fans for handling this situation so well.

“Please get in touch if you see this post.”

One person responded in the comments: “Scary situation!! I hope she is OK! You guys are the best!!! Fans always come first!!!”

Another added: “This is why metalheads are the nicest people.”
