A judge asked twin brothers ‘what were you thinking?’ as they found themselves in the dock following a fight with family members in a school car park. Kain Corrigan and Kyle Corrigan, 23, have been locked up following a ‘dangerous and disgraceful’ brawl last December.
Minshull Street Crown Court heard they were celebrating their release from care, drinking and taking drugs. They gathered on a school car park, alongside family members, prosecutor Emma Swindell said.
“A fight broke out which was captured on CCTV,” she said. “It shows them falling out with each other. At some stage, Kain Corrigan brings out a knife,” the prosecutor said.

Footage showed members of the group squaring up to each other and chasing each other. Kyle pulled brother Kain away before he dropped the knife he was holding.
Judge Mark Savill said the twins had a difficult background, getting involved in criminality. Kain has five convictions for 14 offences, including for wounding with intent. Kyle has 11 convictions on his record.
“Efforts to assist you have not worked,” he said. “When you look at footage you must ask ‘what on earth were you thinking?’. Whatever you intend to do doesn’t matter, anything can happen.
“You both have partners who stand by you. If you can stop drinking, get work and settle down, there is a future for you. You must draw a line under your offending.
“People who involve themselves in violent disorder with a weapon can only expect a sentence of immediate custody.”
The court heard both were ‘remorseful’ and had a ‘genuine desire to change their ways’.
Kane Corrigan, of St Johns Court, Radcliffe, was jailed for a year and four months for violent disorder and possession of a knife. Kyle Corrigan, of Racecourse Walk, Radcliffe, was locked up for 12 months for violent disorder.
