Cynthia Erivo told Runner’s World that she intended to best her previous 2022 London Marathon time, 3:35:36, at this year’s race. The actress, singer, and runner did just that. In partnership with Brooks and through the coaching of Erika Kemp, Erivo clocked a PR crossing the finish line at 3:21:40. Dressed in head-to-toe Brooks gear, you can easily steal her look for your next run.
Our testers gave the Hyperion Max 3 high marks, with one saying, “I love the Hyperion Max, this shoe is a great training shoe for getting those long miles in with tired feet, it takes the pounding out when running on roads, it really absorbs the impact well, also feels easy to push the faster miles as well.”
Erivo is proof that the Hyperion Max 3 helps push the pace for faster miles—and a marathon PR. The shoe has DNA Flash v2 and DNA Gold cushioning to promote a propulsive ride and a rocker profile for smooth heel-to-toe transitions.
This semi-fitted half-zip is great for iffy days when you’re unsure if the temp is too cold or just right for running—or racing. Erivo wore a hydration vest, so the shirt doubles as a shield against chafing. To keep track of her splits, Erivo may have utilized the left cuff’s watch window.
On the Nobody Asked Us podcast, Erivo deemed the 7-inch inseam a winner when she tried on the Chaser Short Tight. The length is long enough to provide sleek coverage and prevent friction in the thigh area. It has two side drop pockets—perfect for storing race day fuel—and silicone grippers to keep the legs in place.

The Ghost Crew offers excellent over-the-ankle coverage and arch support. Cushioning under the heel and forefoot makes these primed for long miles, like a marathon. The fabric is also antimicrobial-treated to fight odor.
While it sounds a little très riche, attaching thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry to your shoes, maybe they’ll give you that extra oomph of motivation to achieve your racing dreams. The dog charms on Erivo’s shoes are one-of-a-kind, but you can get the Cleo Rev earrings that were also attached to her shoes if you really want to splurge. Erivo wore these charms to symbolize her inner strength, turning her dreams into reality as she ran 26.2 miles. When it comes to achieving your run goals, we’re all for bedazzling your shoes if it worked for Erivo.
