Stephen Dillane plays Hauptmann Gerd Wiesler in The Lives of Others at the Adelphi Theatre, London.

Stephen Dillane is a BAFTA and Emmy Award–winning actor, widely recognised for his work on television, including Game of Thrones, The Tunnel, and The Crown. His recent screen credits include KAOS and Sherwood.

A highly respected stage actor, Dillane has performed extensively at the National Theatre, Almeida Theatre, and Royal Court, as well as in the West End and internationally.

His theatre credits include When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other, An Oak Tree, The Coast of Utopia, Angels in America (Parts 1 & 2), Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and Dancing at Lughnasa (National Theatre); Faith Healer and Endgame (Donmar Warehouse); The Real Thing (Donmar Warehouse, West End, Broadway), for which he received both the Evening Standard and Tony Awards; The Master Builder and Macbeth (Almeida Theatre); The Tempest and As You Like It (The Bridge Project); Four Quartets (Aldeburgh, Lincoln Center); A Thought in Three Parts, Drunk Enough to Say I Love You?, Our Late Night, and Hush (Royal Court Theatre); Life After George (Guildford, West End); Uncle Vanya (Royal Shakespeare Company); Hurlyburly (The Old Vic); and Hamlet (Gielgud Theatre).

His television work includes KAOS, Sherwood, Alex Rider, Red Election, Vigil, The Tunnel (International Emmy Award for Best Actor), The Crown, Game of Thrones (as Stannis Baratheon), and The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall (BAFTA Award for Best Actor).His film credits include The Outrun, Boxing Day, The Man in the Hat, Outlaw King, Darkest Hour, The Professor and the Madman, Mary Shelley, Zero Dark Thirty, Papadopoulos & Sons, Twenty8k, The Rage, Hawksmoor, Welcome to Sarajevo, and Luther 3.
