UK local government pension funds face ban on country or company divestments

Individual local authority pension funds would be banned from calling for divestments of individual companies, countries or “investment styles” under draft rules for investment strategy statements being set out by the UK government.

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is the largest funded scheme in the country and one of the largest in the world at £400 billion ($540 billion; €462 billion).
