Andre Onana has been rested for Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against West Ham United.

Onana, who travelled to Brentford for last week’s 4-3 defeat but was not in the squad, will sit out United’s penultimate home fixture.

The 29-year-old is set to start the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on May 21. Onana is likely to play in United’s final match before the final at Chelsea next Friday.

United coach Ruben Amorim rested Onana for the 4-1 humbling by Newcastle United last month after he made two errors in the 2-2 Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon.

Altay Bayindir is expected to start in goal for the second league game running, despite conceding eight goals in his two league appearances for United.

Third-choice goalie Tom Heaton is expected to be on the bench again while academy ‘keeper Dermot Mee will assist in the warm-ups with goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital.

Amorim has otherwise named a strong squad. Noussair Mazraoui did not travel to Brentford last week but he arrived at Old Trafford on Sunday morning.
