A Friday evening at the pub was abruptly stopped for patrons in Bath when an umbrella burst into flames. Customers were evacuated from The Cork’s beer garden following the sudden outbreak of a fire caused by an umbrella.
The fire service were called to the pub around 8.30pm on Friday, May 9, after receiving multiple calls about the fire. A team from Bath fire station was dispatched to tackle the blaze.
Images captured at the scene depict a substantial fire with black smoke billowing from the pub garden. Several people were evacuated from the garden area.
An umbrella was the source of the fire, an Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said. The fire is thought to have started accidentally.
A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service stated: “We were called at 8.29pm last evening. We received several calls to this address. One crew attended from Bath fire station.”
“They discovered one umbrella ablaze and utilised a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish it. The fire started accidentally. Crews were present at the scene for approximately 15 minutes.”
