A search and rescue operation is continuing at Lough Neagh following reports of a person coming off a jet ski.

The jet skier is believed to have set off from the Gawley’s Gate area, on the shore of Lough Neagh close to Aghalee, and it was reported at around 1.20pm that a person had entered the water.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a person believed to be in the water in the Derryola Bridge Road area of Craigavon at approximately 1.20pm today, Thursday 30th April.

“Officers are currently in attendance alongside colleagues from HM Coastguard and the public are advised to avoid the area at this time.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 802.”

The Irish Coast Guard is also involved in the operation, having tasked its Rescue 118 helicopter from Sligo, and has been approached for comment alongside HM Coastguard.

The Lough Neagh Search and Rescue organisation said it tasked teams to join the operation at 1.28pm.
