Outgoing Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel insists he “feeds off the energy” of criticism after stick from the Parkhead support.
In March, the Parkhead No. 1 revealed he faced up to 12 months on the sidelines with a torn bicep torn rotator cuff, dislocated shoulder and torn labrum.
Two surgeries will be required for the shot-stopper who is turning 40 later this year, with the shot-stopper admitting he may have played his last game.
On the pitch it has been a disappointing campaign for the Dane, having put in a series of disappointing displays that led to sections of the Celtic fan base booing the goalkeeper, with Viljami Sinisalo stepped up to become Martin O’Neill’s first-choice.
Despite making appearances at Lennoxtown, the Dane is set to leave Glasgow’s east end when his contact expires this month.
And in an update with Celtic TV, he signed off his time at Celtic Park.
Offering an update on his injury, he said: “The status at the moment is I’ve had one surgery, which was an exploratory surgery and a clean-up surgery.
“The status is there is a lot of damage in there, a lot of infection, and I am going to need another one or two, maybe three surgeries.
“Yeah, it’s a strange reality at the moment and it has been a strange couple of months trying to wrap my head around it.”
And Schmeichel – who was booed by sections of his own supporters during the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Stuttgart earlier this season – was asked about the “support” from fans and “support in a different way”.

He responded: “I am a sensitive guy. I hear a lot of stuff and I feed off that energy, no question – both positive and negative. But the energy the fans can bring is so important.
“When you play at Celtic Park and they are with you, you are unstoppable. You stand in that goal and you feel the atmosphere, you feel the drive.
“I’d hate to be an opposition player there because that is the ultimate weapon Celtic have – that unity and that support. When all that is buzzing, you have won before you go on the pitch, practically. But that is what Celtic is.”
