Crews at an Edinburgh beauty spot have been forced to deal with a number of fires as the capital saw higher temperatures. Rangers put out a blaze on Friday and also halted a group that planned to have a large, open fire.
Images shared on social media show trees burnt out as a result. Rangers removed a wooden pallet from the individuals ahead of their plan.
It comes as temperatures increased throughout the past few days, with many visitors flocking to popular beauty spots.
A statement on the Pentland Hills Regional Park’s Facebook reads: “Today our rangers dealt with another fire and have just removed a wooden pallet from a group of individuals who were planning to have a large open fire.”
Hundreds of people shared their thoughts on the fire and described the individuals as having “little regard for the environment”.
Another person said: “This makes me so angry”.
A second added: “They have no idea how this impacts on the wild spaces for everyone. That’s down right vandalism”.
A third wrote: “Another bunch of people with no countryside skills.”
