A huge emergency services presence is in the city tonight after a man has suffered a serious fall.

Colmore Row was closed to vehicles close to the Council House as paramedics and police worked at the city centre scene.

At least eight emergency service vehicles were in the area.

Police issued a statement tonight. It confirmed a man has been taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a fall.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’re currently in Colmore Row Birmingham city centre, after a man is understood to have fallen a number of floors within a building.

“He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“We’re currently at the scene with emergency service colleagues as we seek to establish the full circumstances.”

The city centre was busy with people as the incident happened.
