Police in Gorton after two men arrested and woman taken to hospital

Police descended on a street in Gorton and arrested two men amid a ‘disturbance’ on Bank Holiday Sunday.

Officers were called to Crossley Street just before 10pm on Sunday evening (May 3). Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large number of police vehicles on the road as well as paramedics.

A cordon was put in place as emergency crews responded. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said a woman was taken to hospital from the scene.

She was not seriously injured, the spokesperson added. Two men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assaulting emergency workers.

Both have been taken into police custody for questioning. An investigation into the incident is now underway.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a property on Crossley Street in Gorton at 9:55pm last night (Sunday 3 May 2026). A woman was taken to hospital for an assessment.

“She did not suffer any serious injuries. Two men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assaulting emergency workers.

“They are in police custody. A scene remains in place whilst an investigation into the full circumstances of this incident continues.”
