Some Coronation Street fans are convinced there’s more to a twist involving Maggie Driscoll.

Despite an update during Monday’s episode of the ITV soap about what happened to her, some viewers cannot shake off the feeling there was something else going on. On Friday, the closing moments of the show revealed some casualties, including Maggie.

After a row with her grandson Will Driscoll, she was shown lifeless on the floor. She was found by two young women who called for an ambulance, and her fate was not known.

Monday’s episode, now available on ITVX, has confirmed her fate. Not only that but it was revealed during the episode what led to Maggie being in a bad way, as her family discussed the incident and revealed how she was doing.

Fans can see these updates in the episode which they can watch now or watch on ITV1 at 8:30pm this evening. But all weekend fans have been speculating what happened to her, and the latest update has done nothing to steer them off of an attack theory.

While many fans had speculated that she may have suffered a heart attack, a key theory was that one of two characters attacked her or caused a medical issue. Fans are still now wondering if, despite the update on Monday, someone may have hurt Maggie.

Taking to social media a fan said: “Megan maybe?” as another said: “I think it was Will he claimed he hadn’t seen her.” Another said: “Could be Will as he stormed off after it happened.”

A further fan speculated: “I think it’s Will,” as another said: “I think her grandson and Megan attacked her.” Another comment read: “I think Will attacked her.”

The theories kept on coming as one post read: “Got to be Will.” Another fan posted: “It will be Will or his son,” as a final comment said: “The grandson maybe.”

Actress Pauline McLynn, who plays Maggie, teased the character may have met her match in villain Megan Walsh. Maggie’s drama with Megan was the result of the Driscolls finding out that sick Megan had groomed and sexually abused Will.

Pauline said of the scenes with Megan: “I’m not convinced she’s scared of Megan, but she may indeed have met her match. I had some time off recently and I spent time in Dublin.

“People thought oh Maggie’s going to be fun! But now she’s a weapon. And I think Megan is a weapon. They recognise one another. Unlike sharks, they’ve decided to not swim around each other.

“Megan has crossed the line, she’s tried to hurt one of Maggie’s boys, and this is whatever justice is given to her – possibly by Maggie or other people. In a recurring drama, this is justice.”
