New little penguin chicks hatch at the zoo

Edinburgh Zoo has some newly hatched gentoo penguin chicks to show off to visitors.

Three chicks have hatched since 29 April each weighing around 98g at birth, roughly the same as a bar of soap.

Keepers at The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), the wildlife conservation charity, expect to welcome more youngsters in the coming weeks.

The chicks can now be seen being cared for by their parents at the zoo’s Penguins Rock, Europe’s largest outdoor penguin pool.

Visitors can book zoo tickets online in advance and save at edinburghzoo.org.uk/tickets
