Hull FC’s performance against Toulouse has been labelled ‘unacceptable.’

Andy Last insists that Hull FC will get the ‘balance right’ in terms of recovery, training, and rest ahead of their game against Bradford Bulls.

The Black and Whites head to Odsal to take on the Bulls on May 17, with two weeks to prepare following Sunday’s ‘bitterly disappointing’ defeat to Toulouse Olympique.

Ten games into the Super League season, Last is keen not to overload his players. However, they will be in training this Monday for recovery and in again on Wednesday as they look to rectify some wrongs from their 12-4 defeat at the MKM Stadium.

Hull, who have a reserves fixture away at Wigan Warriors on Sunday, will then be given a few days off before regrouping again for the Bradford clash.

“They’re going to be in tomorrow (Monday), and we’re due in on Wednesday,” Last, speaking to Hull Live, said after Sunday’s game. “We need to be mindful of not overreacting to that poor performance. It’s a long, long season, and we need to make sure we get the balance right between training and rest.

“The boys will be training in the early part of the week. We’ll do our review and we’ll recover and spend some time in the video room. We need to freshen them up in terms of ice baths and swimming and have a bit of a stretch, and then we’ve got a big session on Wednesday.

“There’ll be a fair amount of fix-up in that from what you saw today. We’ll then give them a bank of a couple days off and get them back into training and focus into Bradford.”

Outlining the importance of the Bradford game, Last, whose side has four wins and six losses from their opening ten games, said: “Every game is important. I sat during the week and said we have to go and win this (Toulouse) game.

“Every game in the Super League is so important, as they’re all the same value. If you want to be a team who wants to challenge the top six, you’ve got to be winning games like this at home, and we failed to deliver. That’s on me and on the playing group. The players are fully aware that that wasn’t acceptable for us. We need to be better.”
