A dance club from South Bristol are celebrating after once again being crowned world champions during a successful trip to the US.
Angels Dance Academy, which is based on the Caters industrial estate in Bishopsworth, scooped one world championship and two bronze titles at the Dance Worlds, the leading international competition event for cheer, hip-hop and street dance.
ADA, as they are known competitively, have returned from the world championships several times before with world titles and narrowly missed out last year, which founder and lead choreographer Charlie Bedford said made this year’s success sweeter.
The huge event was held at the Coronado Springs Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.
Hundreds of teams from more than 40 countries all around world – from as far afield as Japan, Philippines, Brazil and Europe – entered the 2026 Worlds, and the South Bristol based academy took four teams and a big group of parents and support.

ADA Genesis were the big winners, scooping the World Championship title in the Open Coed Hip Hop category.
The team qualified for the final in style with the top score of 89.1 in their semi-final, but had to improve to win it – and did so. Other teams beat that 89.1 score from the judges in the final, but so did they, winning the world championship with a score of 92.7.

ADA Dominion came third and won a bronze title in the Open Hip-Hop category, while Angels’ junior team ADA Bad Bunnies, which is made up of youngsters aged between 11 and 16, also won a bronze champion title in the Junior Hip-Hop category.
ADA Virtues qualified in their semi-finals in the Open Jazz category and finished a creditable eighth place in the finals.

“We didn’t realise how much last year hurt and how much we needed this,” Charlie Bedford wrote on Angels social media. “This team has worked so hard to get to the worlds level and you didn’t disappoint! Anything is possible when you work hard enough and want it enough!
“Making so many of you World Champions for the first time is a dream come true. To those that have been in this division for many years – what a feeling taking the crown back,” he added.

Co-choreographer Jada Pinnock thanked the family and friends from back in Bristol for the support to get the dancers to the US. “We are so proud of every dancer that competed this week,” she said.
“Every single dancer left everything on the floor and we couldn’t be prouder,” she added.
