A force spokesperson said: “We can confirm that there was a road traffic collision involving a police vehicle at Switch Island in Bootle today, Tuesday 5 May.

“At around 3.35pm, we received a report that a police car was in collision with another car as it was responding to an emergency incident, and then collided with a post at the Dunnings Bridge Road section of Switch Island.

“At present no injuries reported but all parties are getting checked over by medics.”An investigation into the collision is being carried out, and we are appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or who has dashcam footage, to contact police as soon as possible.”Anyone who witnessed the crash or captured anything on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact police via @MerPolCC on Twitter (X) or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, with log 642 of 5 May.
