Streets in the Toryglen area of Glasgow have been locked down following an incident this evening.

Armed police have descended on a residential area in Glasgow amidst an incident. Emergency services were called to Edinbeg Avenue in the Toryglen area of the city at around 7.15pm this evening.

The area has been locked down by police and it is understood that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance. The exact nature of the incident is currently unknown.

Images taken at the scene tonight show a police cordon has been set up as emergency services deal with the situation. Another image shows a number of armed police officers in discussion as they respond to the incident.
