SHEFFIELD stage their first home ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture of the season on Thursday (May 7, 7.30pm) with reigning champions Ipswich the visitors.
Having being eliminated from the Knockout Cup and having lost their league opener at King’s Lynn last week, the Tigers are extra keen to get a win on the board.
And despite being on the wrong end of the scoreline four times out of five so far this season, Sheffield star Leon Flint insists there are reasons to be optimistic.
“It’s obviously not the start we wanted, to be out of the cup and to have lost our first league meeting – but I don’t think our form has been too bad.
“Obviously the loss against Leicester at home wasn’t good but in all of our away meetings, we’ve not been too far away at all.
“We know we need to improve a lot at home from that last meeting, but overall if we can get back to winning ways there, keep it tight away from home then that will stand us in good stead as the year goes on.
“We want to give the fans something good to watch out there on track and make sure they go home happy – but we know the one thing that will make them happier than anything is a win.
“We want to get some points on the board now and we all want to give it everything we’ve got to get our home league campaign off to a good start.”
Sheffield are once again at full strength whilst former Tigers Tobiasz Musielak, Danny King and Jason Edwards are included for Ipswich who also use Daniel Klima as a guest for the suspended Philip Hellstrom-Bangs.
