Launched today, Exposure Lights’ Revo 5 is a unique, bright dynamo light with a built-in battery—claimed to be the first of its kind. Capable of harnessing power from a hub while turned off, the Revo 5 can be pre-charged so that the running beam doesn’t suffer from drops in speed. Read on below for more on this new light…

Delivering up to 2,000 lumens, the Revo 5 is one of the brightest dynamo lights on the market. With a 1,600 mAh lithium-ion battery, the Revo 5 features a hybrid system that allows riders to pre-charge the light for maximum output even when speeds slow. The light also has two built-in intelligent programs. The first, Infinite Runtime mode, is tailored to long-distance bikepackers. Only using the available power from the dynamo, its output will vary with speed. However, this program allows for light output while charging devices, such as phones, power banks, and GPS units. No switches or junction boxes required.

The other is its Fixed Output mode. More suited to shorter rides, this mode uses power from the internal battery to provide a consistent output. The dynamo will charge the battery while you ride, so the faster you go, the longer the runtime. In this mode, you can charge the light from an external source, such as a power bank, or benefit from the pre-charge feature. Both programs feature High, Low, and DayBright pulse modes, which are selected with a single press of the function button.

Other features on the Revo 5 include an IP68 waterproof-tested body, a 12° spot beam, two USB-C ports (input and output), and battery-only runtimes ranging from 30 minutes on high to 3 hours on low, with DayBright pulse at over 12 hours. Fully pre-charging the light takes roughly 45 minutes at 15 miles per hour with no other drain on the system. The light is constructed from 6063 anodized aluminum and is made in the UK. The Revo 5 is compatible with all AC dynamo hubs and comes with a 1.2m connection cable. The light retails for £355 ($390) and can be purchased directly from Exposure.
