A Monklands school has recieved a positive inspection report.
His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) in Scotland visited Glenmanor Primary in Chryston.
Inspectors highlighted key strengths of the school, including the “highly effective leadership of the head teacher who provides supportive guidance to staff to improve the work of the school based firmly on the school values”.

Staff were also found to “demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork and are keen to improve their skills and abilities”, while teachers’ approaches to using a wide range of digital technology to enhance children’s learning was also flagged up.
The report added: “They [teachers] are developing children’s digital literacy and computing science skills well through engaging and motivating learning experiences.
“Children have a firm understanding of their own wellbeing and how this relates to their experiences in and out of school.

“Staff use their knowledge of children carefully to provide well-considered and creative support to improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families.
“The children are polite, confident and proud of their school. Through their leadership opportunities and achievements, children play an active role in improving their school.
“This is helping them to be responsible citizens.”
The following areas for improvement were identified and discussed with the head teacher and a representative from North Lanarkshire Council:
– As planned, all staff should work together to develop further approaches to providing children with consistent high-quality learning, teaching and assessment.
– And staff should continue to monitor the impact of interventions and school improvement planning on children’s attainment and achievement.
The report concluded: “We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.
“North Lanarkshire Council will inform parents/carers about the school’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of its schools.”
