Voters across Greater Manchester have had their say in the 2026 local elections.
Elections have taken place in all of the region’s borough councils, including Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.
Polls closed across Greater Manchester at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, with counts taking place overnight and on Friday.
The first councils to declare will be Wigan from 2.30am, followed by Bolton, Tameside and Salford from 3am. Oldham and Stockport results will be called from 5am, followed by Manchester from 12.30pm and Rochdale from 2pm.
The last results to be declared in the region are Trafford from 4pm, and Bury from 4.30pm.

In total, more than 5,000 council seats were up for grabs across 136 local authorities in England on election day. Mayoral elections also took place in six areas.
