A WEST Midlands secondary school considered among the worst in the West Midlands now appears to be moving in the right direction.

Ofsted inspectors recently returned to Shire Oak Academy, in Walsall, to see if the situation had improved since delivering a damning assessment in January 2025.

Back then, the school, which has around 1,300 pupils on its roll, was rated ‘inadequate’ in three important areas around quality of education, behaviour and leadership.
