Parisian restaurateur and wine expert Carole Bryon, who holds the highly respected WSET Level 4 Diploma, opened Lady of the Grapes, Covent Garden in 2018 and has built a loyal following championing female producers of organic and natural wines.

On 15 June, she launches a new site in the Menier Chocolate Factory building; Lady of the Grapes London Bridge, will be a 60-seat ground floor bistro and 20-seat terrace and Forbidden Fruit, a below ground 45-seat speakeasy-style vaulted wine bar.

The wine list will feature only organic and natural wines from female growers including the likes of Marielle Cazaux, Chateau La Conseillante (France), Jeanne Vito, Springfontein (South Africa), Athenais Beru (France), Kristin Syltevik (UK), Elisabetta Foradori (Italy), Vanya Cullen (Australia), Jade Gros (Spain) and Michaela Reidmuller (Austria).

Head chef Matyáš Plzák (formerly of Frog by Adam Handling, Frenchie and Mãos) will cook ingredient-led, modern French bistro-style dishes complemented by an extensive list of 25 wines by the glass in Lady of the Grapes and 45 wines by the glass in Forbidden Fruit – including many older vintages.

The venue occupies a large two-story space within the Grade-II listed Victorian Menier Chocolate Factory which dates back to the 1870s. Tall windows line two walls of Lady of the Grapes London Bridge, creating a bright space with open kitchen and banquette seating. Downstairs, the moodier more intimate wine bar, Forbidden Fruit, seats 45 and features historic vaults and exposed brickwork.
