The whole county of the West Midlands headed out to the polls in local elections yesterday (Thursday, May 7)—with hundreds of thousands voting for full councils in Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, and Walsall, as well as one-third of Dudley and Wolverhampton local authorities. All results are expected to trickle in throughout today (Friday, May 8), so here’s how all seven metropolitan boroughs in the West Midlands voted in the 2026 local elections.

Results expected around 6pm.
Coventry
Results expected around 5pm.
Dudley (Conservative → No overall majority) ⚪
25 out of 72 council seats were up for election in Dudley, with the council now:
Conservatives: 27 (-7)
Reform: 23 (+22)
Labour: 15 (-13)
Liberal Democrats: 4 (-1)
Independents: 3 (-1)
Sandwell
