Voters in Sandwell in the West Midlands have had their say in the 2026 local elections.
Seats on Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council were up for election in the wards of Bearwood; Blackheath; Bristnall; Charlemont & Grove Vale; Cradley Heath & Old Hill; Friar Park & Stone Cross; Great Barr, Tamebridge & Yew Tree; Great Bridge; Greets Green & Lyng; Hateley Heath; Hill Top; Langley; Newton & Valley; Old Warley; Oldbury; Princes End; Rowley; Smethwick; Soho & Victoria; St Pauls; Tipton Green; Tividale; Wednesbury and West Bromwich Central.
All 72 seats were up for grabs on Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, with three councillors elected in each ward.
Elections in Sandwell usually take place in three of every four years with a third of councillors elected each time. However, this year is an all-out election due to new boundary changes.
Sandwell Council is a metropolitan borough council responsible for some local government services including recycling, council tax collection and planning.
Ahead of the election, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council was run by Labour holding the majority of 64 seats.
Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, with the count taking place on Friday, May 8. Results for the Sandwell local elections are due from 5pm on Friday.
In total, more than 5,000 council seats were up for grabs across 136 local authorities in England on election day. Mayoral elections also took place in six areas.
