The shelter is now in place on the small pond at Eastrop, thanks to wildlife group Helping Wildlife in Basingstoke.
The group said: “Residents may notice a new duck house now in place on the small pond at Eastrop.
“The structure was generously donated by Helping Wildlife in Basingstoke to provide a safe refuge for the waterfowl – particularly vulnerable ducklings – away from predators and disturbances.”

Installed with council permission, the house was put into position by Danni, a volunteer with The Swan Sanctuary and Swan and Friends Bird Rescue, who used a kayak to carefully navigate the hazardous sludge conditions.
The new addition follows previous improvements at the pond, including a floating straw island installed by Helping Wildlife volunteer Kate.
The group said: “Helping Wildlife continues to play a vital role in supporting local wildlife, working hands-on to improve habitats and respond to wildlife in need.”
The group is currently raising funds through JustGiving to support its rescue and rehabilitation efforts. To donate, go to tr.ee/Jy99v8qnoJ.
Donations will help cover the cost of essential cages for the care of injured and orphaned animals before they are released back into the wild.
