TYRONE, Pa (WJAC) — Downtown Tyrone has been decorated with green ribbons for Mental Health Awareness Month.
Held every year since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month aims to reduce the stigma surrounding behavioral health conditions.
Key purposes include encouraging open and honest conversations to help eliminate shame and discrimination against those with mental illnesses, raising awareness, providing resources and more.
It also highlights that mental health is just as important as physical health and encourages people to seek help when needed.
