The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is calling on people in Glasgow to take part in its spring fling initiative by donating good-quality preloved homeware and furniture to its shops across the city, helping to fund vital research into cardiovascular disease.
The appeal is part of BHF’s annual Reuse Revolution campaign, which encourages individuals to donate items they no longer need.
James Park, area manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: “Spring is the season for a clear-out, so we’re asking people to have a spring fling – bag up what you no longer love or use and donate it to us.
“At the moment we are in particular need of upholstery pieces as well as lounge and bedroom furniture.
“No matter how big or small, we can rehome quality homeware and your donations help raise vital funds for the BHF’s research.”
The BHF operates eight shops throughout Glasgow, selling both fashion and furniture items.
James said: “We rely on the generosity of people in Glasgow to keep our shops stocked.
“That sideboard you no longer need or that sofa that needs a new home could help fund the next research breakthrough – and they could be exactly what someone else is looking for.”
Each year, BHF shops and stores raise millions to help fund research into cardiovascular disease.
There are estimated to be more than 800,000 people living with cardiovascular disease in Scotland, where CVD causes nearly 50 deaths each day.
Donating to the BHF is simple and can be done in three ways: by dropping items into shops during opening hours, posting donations for free with an online postage label or arranging a free collection for larger items.
The British Heart Foundation encourages the community to support its work by shopping, donating or volunteering at one of its Glasgow locations, which include shops at The Forge Retail Park, Byres Road, Sauchiehall Street and Dumbarton Road.
