Volunteers from the Friends of Farsley Rehoboth group organised a 100th birthday celebration for Sir David Attenborough.
The much-loved broadcaster selected the charity as a recipient of his Wild Isles Charitable Foundation four years ago.
He supports the volunteers with both funding and advice to help with the development of the beautiful natural community asset off Coal Hill Lane.
In honour and appreciation of his generosity and time, the Friends of Farsley Rehoboth organised a 100th birthday celebration on Friday, 8 May.
The event was attended by volunteers, corporate partners, the choir from Valley View Community Primary School in Rodley and Nima Poovaya-Smith OBE, Deputy Lieutenant, West Yorkshire.
The occasion was marked by the planting of a sycamore sapling by Nima and specialist tree volunteer, Peter Robinson.

A presentation took place of a King`s Award for Voluntary Service Certificate, Crystal and individual badges to the staff and Nima Poovaya-Smith OBE, Deputy Lieutenant, West Yorkshire.l for their support over the past seven years.
A spokesperson said: “We had a lovely celebration and film and photographs are being sent with love to David Attenborough.”

Attendees also enjoyed delicious and unique David Attenborough buns, kindly provided by the The Farsley Cake Co. There was also a free raffle with an assortment of David Attenborough themed prizes.
A special birthday banner was kindly donated by Sunnybank Mills.

Farsley Rehoboth Cemetery is much more than a burial ground; it’s a significant historical and community asset. Dating back nearly 250 years, this lovingly restored site offers a tangible connection to the interwoven stories of the local area.
