Conservative Della Heptinstall won the Horsforth Town Council Hall Park ward by election.

Gaining 787 votes, she held off Labour’s Ian McCargo, who received 603 votes. Green Party’s Khadijah Akhtar received 483 votes.

Posting on Facebook after Friday’s count, Councillor Heptinstall said: “To everyone who voted for me, supported me, encouraged me, delivered leaflets, spoke to me on the doorstep, or simply wished me luck – thank you. I am incredibly grateful for the trust and support that has been placed in me.

“This campaign has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and eye-opening experiences of my life. I have met so many brilliant residents who care deeply about our community, and I am proud to now have the opportunity to represent them.

“Whether you voted for me or not, I will work hard to be a visible, approachable, and active councillor for the whole ward.”

The by-election was called following the resignation of Becky Heaviside.
